He began his martial arts journey with Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and Shootfighting in early 1999, New Zealand at the age of 15 and never stopped, in early 2002-05 he lived, trained and competed in Japan on and off then in Thailand in 2005 for 4 months, he has been living in Australia since late 2007.

He has had many great teachers in Jiu Jitsu and Grappling, the main ones are, Jeremy Murphy, Shootfighting Black belt {NZ}, Dr Geoff Aitkan, BJJ 2nd degree Black belt {NZ}, Edson lenardo da Silva,BJJ 7th degree Red & Black belt {Brazil/Japan}, Andre Pacheco, BJJ Black belt {Brazil}, Vincent Perry, BJJ 1st degree Black belt {Australia} John Will, BJJ 4th degree Black belt {Australia}.

In 2007 he was awarded a Black belt in Shootfighting by Dr Geoff Aitken. In early march 2012 he was awarded a Black belt in BJJ by John Will {www.bjj.com.au}.

he had his debut amateur MMA fight in 2003 and now hold a 5-0 professional Mixed Martial Arts record {www.sherdog.com} all coming via submissions, in 2010 he won the NZ light heavy weight MMA belt.
Andrew has also studied and competed in Submission grappling, Japanese Ju Jitsu and Sambo, and has studied Catch wrestling, Freestyle wrestling, Judo, Muay thai and Boxing.
